Rider of the month: Cuong La
NEWS | 30 September 2020

Rider of the month: Cuong La

This month, we get to know Cuong La from Vietnam.

I’m Cuong La, and as well as being in the bubble tea business, I freelance as an amateur photographer. My style is inspired by retro, vintage and classic looks. I’m a big fan of the backpacking life, and often capture moments from my motorbike journeys with friends.

1. In one word, why do you ride a motorcycle?

Convenience! In Vietnam, the motorbike is the most popular vehicle. You can go everywhere with your motor, from going out with friends, to a long trip where you can enjoy this wonderful life.

2. What was it about Brixton Motorcycles that got your attention?

I’m very impressed by the design of Brixton Motorcycles. Compared to its competitors, it’s clear that Brixton is unique, more dominant and attractive. Also, Brixton owns three different designs: classic, scrambler and café racer. That means more choice for customers in the Vietnamese market, which is something rival motor manufacturers don’t offer.

3. What Brixton are you riding and what’s your favourite thing about it?

I ride a Cromwell 150cc. I chose this motorbike because it was affordable and had that classic style I wanted.

4. What’s the craziest ride you’ve been on?

My craziest trip was probably the one to Di Linh – one of Vietnam’s most famous camping sites. Why was it crazy? To get there, I had to go through many different roads, and it was sooo tough to find the right way. I got lost for few hours… but everything turned out fine, and it’s still the most interesting experience I‘ve ever had.

Compared to its competitors, Brixton is unique.

5. What’s the furthest from home you’ve ever been on your Brixton?

My furthest trip was over 1500 km. For that one, I changed the style of my Brixton from classic to café racer. It looked magnificent!

6. What’s the most beautiful place you’ve been on your Brixton?

To me, the most beautiful place I’ve been with my Brixton is HOME! That sounds strange, but only when you’re at home, do you have time to take care of it.

7. Would you rather ride on ocean roads, or mountain passes?

I love to experience any road that requires courage and bravery, and one of my most exciting experiences was actually off-road. Vietnam is a country of many roads, where rocky bays are lapped by vivid blue sea. It’s an unforgettable experience for whoever has taken them.

8. The best place to run out of gas?

Probably Ma Phi Leng – one of the most beautiful and adventurous passes in Vietnam. From the top of Ma Pi Leng, you can see majestic mountain scenery. One side is a steep cliff, and the other is a deep river abyss with thousands of bare grey rocks stretching into the distance. This view says: everyone should come here once in their lifetime.
