Rider of the month: Steven

My name is Steven, I am 44 years old and come from Germany. I am a father and husband, and work as a technical manager in a large corporation. Four years ago, I bought my first Brixton, a Felsberg 125. Recently, I added a second one to my collection, the Rayburn 125. My daughter Mia is also a Brixton fan, and we share our hobby. We travel long distances together, forgetting the time and briefly escaping the stresses of everyday life.

You cycle together with your daughter Mia – what is it like to share a hobby?

I only got my driving licence when my daughter got hers. She was the one who sparked this hobby in me, and sharing it with Mia means sharing joy and building a strong relationship. Sharing this hobby with her and experiencing it together is simply wonderful.

What has been your best tour together so far, and why do you remember it?

My fondest memory is when my clutch cable broke during a tour, in the middle of nowhere. We asked for help on social media and a helpful motorcyclist responded. He loaded our motorbike onto the back of his pick-up truck and took us home. We realised what social media can do.

Why did you both choose Brixton?

That was actually Mia’s decision too. When she test rode the Felsberg 125 on her 16th birthday, she just fell in love with them. The whole package, it was kind of love at first sight. And I liked them a lot too right away. They’re also really fun to ride. We’re less concerned with horsepower and more about having fun and always arriving safely.

What is the longest distance you have travelled together so far?

The longest distance covered so far was a total of 520 kilometres.

Do you have a special experience that you associate with your Brixton?

There isn’t one particular experience that stands out; every tour is a little adventure in itself, as each one has its own special features and surprises. Not watching the clock and spending quality time together – that’s my special experience on every trip.

If you could plan a perfect day, what would it look like?

The perfect day begins at 7 a.m. at 12 degrees and sunshine with a coffee. Spin a bottle to choose a direction and then set off without a satnav and without a fixed destination. You always end up somewhere.

How do you envision your ‘Brixton journey’ over the next few years?

We don’t plan a fixed route; we usually decide spontaneously. Nowadays, it doesn’t require much preparation. But the North Sea and the Netherlands are our future destinations.

If you let your daughter Mia drive, which one of you would accelerate faster?

I don’t have to think twice about that, Mia is faster.

What will your wife say when there’s another new Brixton in the garage? 😉

My wife is delighted! She also enjoys riding a Brixton. My wife obtained her small motorcycle licence at the age of 16 and showed Mia how wonderful motorcycles are when she was a little girl. She understands what this hobby means and is therefore fully supportive of our garage being filled with motorcycles.
